Summer Reading 2020

Summer Reading Program: June 1 - August 1 

The Douglas County Public Library invites everyone to participate in the 2020 Summer Reading Program! There are reading and activity challenges for babies, toddlers, children, teens, and adults.

The program runs from June 1 to August 1 through the library's Beanstack webpage:

Children and teens who participate will earn prizes while they maintain and build their reading skills during summer break.

The Beanstack Tracker app is available for smartphones and tablets.

Set up an account on the library’s Beanstack webpage at to participate.  Log reading, earn prizes, and enter drawings on your Beanstack account from June 1 through August 1!

Virtual Storytime on Facebook

Virtual Storytime

Like and follow Douglas County Public Library on Facebook to view the growing playlist of Virtual Storytime videos!

When the library is closed and normal storytimes are put on hold, the library will upload weekly storytime videos. Enjoy fun storybook readings by familiar library staff faces. There will also be fun and entertaining cameos by the library's fluffy stuffed animals.

Weekend Warriors on Discord

Weekend Warriors - Virtual Teen Dungeons & Dragons Campaign on Discord

The Douglas County Public Library is hosting a virtual Dungeons & Dragons campaign on Discord on Saturdays from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

Join us for adventure this Saturday! Email the library at to receive a Discord invitation. Provide your name, age, and library card number.

Please note this is for teens only, the rules are the same as any program, and no foul or sexually explicit language will be tolerated.

Douglas County Reads - The Good Neighbor by Maxwell KingDouglas County Reads Program - Read Together!

Read the chosen book and engage in conversations on the library's social media. Through Douglas County Reads, we hope to engage with our community and share our experiences together while reading the same book.

The book we have selected is "The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers" by Maxwell King, available as an ebook and audiobook on Hoopla.
