Community Outreach

Douglas County Social Services provides community outreach to ensure that all eligible residents are receiving services. Regardless of where the services are provided, the same documentation and verifications are required. 

Home Visits

When a resident is home-bound and in need of Social Services' assistance, a case manager may be requested to visit the person's home. Specific appointment times can be accommodated as needed. Schedule an appointment by contacting the DCSS main office directly at (775) 782-9825.

State of Nevada, Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services

The State of Nevada provides a Family Services Specialist to assist Douglas County residents with processing their public assistance benefits, i.e., Medicaid, and SNAP.

  • Tuesday: No Welfare services available. 
  • Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last session held at 3:30 p.m.) at Douglas County Social Services, Gardnerville
  • Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last session held at 3:30 p.m.) at Douglas County Social Services, Gardnerville
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last session held at 3:30 p.m.) at Washoe Tribe, Gardnerville
