2014 Senior Education Seminar a Success!

Douglas County TRIAD provided another wonderful seminar where seniors, professionals and community members are able to come and learn. This year's seminar was Sharing Positivity a Positive Approach to Mental Health in Seniors. There was over 135 in attendance with many coming as far as Reno and Carson City. TRIAD History

Douglas County TRIAD was started in 1996 to provide an agreement between the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, East Fork Fire Protection District and Tahoe Douglas Fire with a S.A.L.T. Council (Senior And Law Enforcement Together) Furthermore there are representatives from Senior Residents, Senior Citizen Patrol, Carson Valley Medical Center, Aging and Disability Services Division.

Home Again Program

  • Registers a Dementia Patient
  • Photographs
  • Address information
  • Provides needed help in case a senior wanders

Care Track System

  • Aids in Seniors with Alzheimer's who wander
  • Provides Tracking Equipment for location assistance in the event of an emergency.
  • There is a suggested donation

Senior Citizen Law Enforcement Academy

  • Provides education in law enforcement & public safety
  • Topics covered: uniformed patrol, jail, custody procedures, gang investigations, indentity theft, Fire protection seminars

The Guardian Program

  • Utilizes computerized telephone system to call seniors daily
  • Registration required
  • Operated through the Douglas County Sheriff's Department

Senior for a Day Program

  • Seniors are selected through a nomination process
  • Four seniors are selected for an all expense paid lunch and gifts

TRIAD Senior Directory

  • Creates a one stop directory for locating local business, government agencies.
  • Distributed throughout Douglas County
  • Fund Raising Project
