Douglas County Public Guardianship
The Douglas County Public Guardian (DCPG) serves as guardian, by court appointment, for vulnerable adults aged 18 or older who are unable to manage their personal and/or financial affairs. DCPG coordinates provision of services; provides informed consents; and protects, preserves, and manages the assets of our protected persons. The DCPG is considered the guardian of last resort when there is no family member friend, or other appropriate person to perform the duties as a guardian.
The DCPG only serves as guardian for those who qualify as a current resident of Douglas County, and are within the scope of NRS 253.200 which outlines the qualifications for whom the public guardian of the county may be appointed.
Any individual who is determined to be in need of guardianship must be referred by Douglas County District Court, Adult Protective Services, or the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
