DOG WALKING & CAT SOCIALIZATION

Dog walking volunteers work one on one with the adoptable dogs, taking them outside for exercise, and giving them the love that they need. The shelter can be a noisy and stressful place for animals, and we believe that the interaction with our volunteers is their best therapy. The dog walking program gives the essential quality time with people who care about them.

Cat volunteers preform a similar task, by holding, petting and brushing the adoptable cats, allowing them to relax in the shelter environment, and enabling the cat to become more friendly and calm when approached by a potential adopter.

TIME AND EVENTS!
Volunteering is between 7:30 am and 4 pm seven days a week! hours vary on holidays. There are several types of volunteering that don't limit you to just having to come to the shelter! Douglas County Animal Care & Services is active within the community. We join several events though out the year with our adoption trailer to make sure the adoptable pets are being socialized and the exposure they deserve!
