Make a difference!
Are you looking for an opportunity to help homeless pets in your community? The shelter is always looking for new volunteers to help provide love, care and socialization to the 500+ animals that come through our doors each year. Volunteering can be a rewarding experience, and it's a great way to contribute to your community.
Age Requirements
If you are 16 years of age or older, you may volunteer to work hands on with the animals at the shelter. If you are younger than 16 years of age, you may accompany your parent or legal guardian, but you may not work hands on with the animals.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, just complete these steps:
- Click Here to submit your application, and complete a background check through Human Resources.
- Attend a volunteer orientation and training (approximately 90 minutes). Please wear close toed shoes, and dress appropriately to weather conditions, as a portion of the orientation and tour of the shelter will be held outside.
Dog walking and cat socialization
Dog walking volunteers work one on one with the adoptable dogs, taking them outside for exercise, and giving them the love that they need. The shelter can be a noisy and stressful place for animals, and we believe that the interaction with our volunteers is their best therapy. The dog walking program gives the essential quality time with people who care about them.
Cat volunteers preform a similar task, by holding, petting and brushing the adoptable cats, allowing them to relax in the shelter environment, and enabling the cat to become more friendly and calm when approached by a potential adopter.
Volunteer Hours are 7 days a week from 8:30am - 4:00pm.
